Pet photo guide

Send photos that help your pet still feel like themselves.

CGpets is built around a private pet profile. Clear photos help with portrait direction, memory albums, companion concepts and partner keepsake kits, but the story notes matter too: names, habits, markings, voice, favorite places and why this keepsake matters.

Pet photo quality example for a CGpets keepsake

Best starting point
Clear face, natural light, recognizable details.

What helps most

Use the photo that shows the pet, not just the pose.

For portraits and keepsakes, the strongest source photo usually has readable eyes, visible markings, natural color and enough head or body detail to preserve personality.

  • Natural light: near a window or outdoors, without harsh flash or heavy filters.
  • Eye level: front-facing or slight side angle usually reads more emotionally than a top-down snapshot.
  • Sharp eyes and markings: eyes, ears, muzzle, fur pattern and collar details should be easy to see.
  • More than one option: send 2-5 photos if you have them; one can show face, another can show body, color or personality.

Good fit

Photos that usually work well.

01

Close face with open eyes

Good for custom portraits, avatars, profile art and gift cards.

02

Full body or favorite pose

Useful when the pet’s silhouette, posture or funny habit is part of the memory.

03

Context photo

Great for memory albums: couch, garden, blanket, toy, adoption day or birthday setting.

Send with caution

Photos that may need backup.

!

Heavy blur or low light

Can hide the eyes, fur texture and markings that make the pet recognizable.

!

Extreme filters

Color shifts can make the final keepsake feel less like the actual pet.

!

Cropped ears or hidden face

Still useful for mood, but better paired with a clearer reference photo.

Choose by outcome

Different keepsakes need different photo context.

Portrait

Send the clearest face photo plus any color or marking references.

Memory album

Send a mix: portrait photo, everyday life photo, milestone photo and a few owner notes.

AI companion

Send face, body, personality cues and small behavior notes that make the pet feel present.

Partner kit

Send the best owner-approved photo plus service context: clinic, grooming, shelter, adoption or memorial.

Privacy first

Pet photos are treated as private profile material.

CGpets is still in prototype stage. Submitted photos are used for admin review and product direction, not as public examples unless a separate permission workflow is created later.
